The value we provide

Reliability

Hybrid Restoration has been in business in Tennessee since 2012 installing batteries in the mid-south and surrounding areas by utilizing our mobile installation service, where we come to you!

Our batteries are also shipped to customers outside of our mobile installation area, all over the continental United States since 2012!

Quality

We run a unique refurbishing process and computer analysis on every rebuilt hybrid battery that leaves the shop. Every single battery module is individually refurbished to yield as much of the original capacity as possible. Battery packs are then matched to a tight tolerance. This assures that you won’t have a problem out of your hybrid battery even after the warranty expires. In the event that a failure does occur under warranty, the battery will be replaced free of charge in accordance to the warranty terms selected at the time of purchase.

When our batteries are refurbished or rebuilt, this means that the batteries are not just recharged, checked, and reassembled, like others would do, but they undergo a refurbishing process that yields a like-new functional capacity. This assures that after we replace your hybrid battery you'll continue to get the gas mileage you've come to expect from your hybrid vehicle!

Q: “Why should I buy a hybrid battery from Hybrid Restoration rather than a competitor, local rebuilder, or even just a local shop that installs batteries from a third party company?”

Competitors

Some hybrid battery companies operate with a strategy of offering very short warranties in order to keep their warranty claims down, while other companies offer extremely long and unrealistic lifetime warranties. Some even offer a large upfront fee with a smaller monthly subscription fee and then penalties!

These offers may sound reasonable until you read the fine print stating that you must pay a monthly subscription fee (for a lifetime) or pay a substantial penalty (over $500) for not paying that monthly fee on time. Beware of companies asking you to pay a monthly fee. Most salespeople will not tell you upfront that your warranty will expire if you do not pay that lifetime monthly fee.

Hybrid Restoration offers a completely transparent and straightforward Free Replacement Warranty with clear terms. Our warranty covers the complete service: Battery, Delivery, and Installation; all with no hidden fees. Buy from us!

Local Rebuilders

Since 2012 a number of local rebuilders have emerged then quickly vanished only months after realizing their rebuilding process didn’t actually work for the length of their warranty. Sometimes those rebuilders change or update the terms of their warranties to match their unexpected low reliability.

Hybrid Restoration has produced reliable products since 2012. Our customers often refer neighbors, friends, and family to us and this has kept us in business for the long run. We appreciate all of your referrals!

Private Repair Shops

Sometimes, a local private repair shops will offer to install a battery in your car from a third party battery company, or even worse, an auto parts store… While this might seem easy and like a good idea, the 3rd party battery company will not cover the labor involved in the second installation if their replacement battery fails. You will have to pay for several hours of labor for the second time out of pocket if the auto parts store battery fails.

Our comprehensive warranty covers the delivery, the installation, and the complete battery assembly. This means that if our hybrid battery fails, we come out and replace it completely free of charge as long as you provide us with all of the trouble codes from the scan tool used to diagnose the vehicle.

FAQ

Q: “There's a company offering to replace my battery for slightly less than what you quoted but with a shorter warranty, what is the difference between their battery and your batteries?”

A: The difference is simple. Companies that offer extremely short 90 day or 6 month warranties take shortcuts and rebuild at such low standards that they can only expect a few months of service out of their batteries. They use batteries that shouldn't be reused to sell you a battery that will not perform as expected. Often times those companies only replace one or two cells just to make the battery functional and the fuel mileage will suffer.

The problem with this is that you end up with a battery that has an unpredictable lifespan (sometimes lasting only a few weeks or months). This is because the battery has overall low capacity and the battery modules that weren't replaced are still in a poor state of health.

We rebuild our premium hybrid batteries to high standards that have been proven to be reliable for us, year after year! That’s why we can offer a longer and stable warranty and stand behind it! There are hundreds of batteries in customers cars still going strong even years after the free replacement warranty period has expired.

Q: “Do you just replace the bad modules in your rebuilt hybrid batteries?”

A: Our rebuilt batteries are completely refurbished. We replace all of the modules that don’t meet our high standards and run the rest of the battery through a refurbishing process that yields most of the original capacity. A properly rebuilt hybrid battery assures that your battery will continue to power your car well beyond the warranty.

Our rebuilt batteries are completely refurbished to yield most of the original capacity. What does this mean? It means that the batteries are not just recharged, checked, and reassembled, but they undergo a very thorough refurbishing process that yields a like-new functional capacity. This assures that your vehicle will preform just like it did before your hybrid battery problems.

Other companies might claim to get 100% capacity back out of every single battery, but that is impossible, no matter what they tell you.

Toyota Hybrid FAQ

Q: “What is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) POA80?”

A: P0A80 - Replace Hybrid Battery

You should have your hybrid battery replaced as soon as possible to prevent further damage to the any other components. Continuing to drive with a damaged hybrid battery can cause more damage and wear to other hybrid components. The car will eventually go into limp mode, accelerate dangerously slow, and will not accelerate past 45mph. This is normal but it can put you in a dangerous situation and can leave you stranded if the issue isn't addressed. Often times this DTC is accompanied by a P3000 trouble code.

Q: “My car was diagnosed by the dealer and they recommend replacing the hybrid battery, can I still drive my vehicle home? And for how long?”

A: You can usually drive it home, however this should be done at your discretion. We highly recommend staying off the interstate or high speed/high traffic areas. Why? Well your vehicle is displaying warnings that say it's unsafe to drive, and at almost any time the computer can put the vehicle into a “limp mode” that keeps speeds under 45 mph. Pulling out into traffic can be very dangerous in this scenario. Continuing to drive the vehicle with a failed hybrid battery also damages the battery further as the battery continuously overheats. Play it safe and have your battery replaced as soon as possible.

Q: “What is the typical lifespan that you have seen from the original hybrid battery in the 2004-2009 Prius?”

A: Service life varies, but we've seen mileage anywhere from 120,000 – 175,000 miles on the original hybrid battery, however there are cases of 175,000 to 350,000+ miles out there. Driving habits and many other variables determine the lifespan. On average the original hybrid battery lasts 8 to 12 years with average driving patterns.

Q: “Does my 2004-2009 Prius have an air filter for the battery fan?”

A: No. For some reason service writers tell customers that they need a new fan and a new fan filter when the hybrid battery needs to be replaced. This is not true and is often an attempt to run up the bill to fix your car. In 2010 the newer 3rd generation Prius did have a fan filter added to the design. 2010 Prius and newer WILL have a fan filter. 2004-2009 Prius WILL NOT have a fan filter.

Q: “My car is approaching 200,000 miles. Should I replace my battery or have it refurbished as a preventative maintenance measure?”

A: It’s not common practice to replace or even refurbish the battery because of high mileage, although some aftermarket companies have started to offer refurbishing services for a premium price, at Hybrid Restoration we don’t consider it necessary to refurbish the battery pack at intervals throughout the service life. Ultimately these batteries have a finite number of full cycles they can endure and the more the battery is stressed by stressful grid charging, the less number of lifetime cycles that it will be able to endure.

It would be wise to consider the car's history when making the decision to replace the battery prematurely:

  • Region and climate – Heat is the enemy. Hot environments tend to stress these batteries, so if the car comes from a hotter region, then it’s likely that the battery has seen a bit more stress than normal. Heavy-footed driving in mountainous regions can also stress the battery more than normal.

  • Frequency of use – These batteries don’t like to go unused. Although Nickel-Metal Hydride chemistry is much more resistant to self-discharge than lead-acid chemistry and others, NiMH still exhibits some self-discharge. Simply put,  a stagnant hybrid is much more likely to develop resistance fluctuations than a hybrid that is driven daily.

  • Duty – If the car is for a relative who’s going away to college, or if it’s a fleet vehicle (delivery vehicle, taxi, company car), then you may want to go ahead and replace the battery to prevent any unforeseen and unnecessary down time.

Q: “What is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0AA6?”

A: P0AA6 - High Voltage Isolation Fault

This Fault code is broad and should always be accompanied by a datalog with detail codes or sub codes. Those detail codes or sub codes will point to the area in the hybrid system where the ground fault has occured. This is not always in direct relation to the hybrid battery but sometimes a problem with the transmission, inverter, air conditioning compressor, or high voltage wiring.

Q: “What is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P3011-P3027?”

A: P3011-P3027 - Hybrid Battery block 1-17 becomes weak
